No one really knows how it happened, but one minute Azkaban was there, secure, safe, sturdy, and then... it wasn't. Everything seemed to vanish, and the bars and security measures holding the deadly prisoners back disappeared. What that means for Hogwarts is that, well, there's about twenty vicious criminals roaming the streets, and what better place to cause havoc then a school? The criminals are from all walks of life, some former Death Eaters, others simply wizards and witches with a mean streak.
The Order of the Phoenix resembled to help capture and restore these criminals, but some of them are sly and manage to escape no matter what is thrown at them. The Ministry believes they have banded together and targetted areas of the wizarding world to attack, Hogwarts, St. Mungos, Gringotts and the Ministry to be specific. But the Ministry has been wrong before. That doesn't mean, however, that security across the world hasn't increased. Gringotts is rumored to have a giant working with them for extra protection, while Hogwarts has a share of dementors and additional protective spells. But Azkaban was supposed to be inescapable... and the prisoners broke through that. Who knows what could come next?
Though the world falls apart, life at Hogwarts goes on. After all, with a hearty, well-learned staff and various shielding spells, the students are more protected at school then they are at home. Life seems oddly normal inside the school, with lessons commencing in their usual fashion and even Quidditch games on a regular schedule. The children of Dumbledore's Army, and then some, have come to Hogwarts to begin their own stories. There will be danger, there will be romance, there may be death. Are you ready?
