"I think now that the fighting is over, she'll recover but the Nekos would like to bury their dead." Orion answered bluntly, watching as Kayen gradually wiped the Lycan blood from his sword. The other Vampires had again huddled next to one another converging on the point were they'd once been chained. The remnants of Human, Neko and Vampire slaves were either covered in Lycan blood or soiled by mud and water from Suriel's downpour. The effect of which had half buried the majority of the Human bodies, though none remained behind to tell of it. The Nekos on the other hand, although slightly impressed by the vampires noble intentions, saw to bury their dead and do the same. Disgracing the accursed Lycans as they went by avoiding their bodies and ignoring their painfully vacant expressions as they lie dead in the sludge. Splashing more mud and gore in the faces of the dead lycan traders as they worked at pulling free their counterparts with or without the consent of the vampire lord and his lackeys.
Orion was slightly surprised that Kayen did not already know the three surviving vampires that seemed to call this city home, perhaps they too had been caught passing through though. Keeping an eye on the big one known as Gore, as he none too gently picked up a Lycan body that was covering one of his comrades and violently flung it over the nearest horizon. Orion's eyes widened in slightly shocked amusement as he watched the great show of strength, almost missing the fact that Suriel was once again on her feet and running towards a group of offended Nekos. God it was hard to keep this woman confined, she was so clearly weak and injured from the recent battle and yet continued to exert herself in such a way that worried him. Sliding down the mountain of wreckage, hot on her trail Orion came sliding to a halt sometime later just as she began demanding some sort of explanation for their current actions. The Nekos weren't doing anything to the Lycan bodies nor even the Humans they were simply collecting and cremating their own dead. the overwhelming stench of decaying Neko hit him like a brick wall as he opened his mouth to speak to Suri, in an effort to calm her down. Suriel was having none of it though too outraged to listen to reason all Orion could do was sit and pay attention to their argument. Hopefully this way he could finally understand what had happened and Suri was so infuriated by the rather peaceful but definitely annoying race of cat people.
Suriel was not only infuriated she was more than furious with the Nekos for what they had been trying to conceal from her. Now they were all but lying about it as well, enraging the already upset angel even further. Suriel up until now had been recovering her strength at the top of the pile of newly formed wreckage, when she'd felt a small sharp wave of panic sweep through her. It was not unusual for her to feel such things when there was an obvious danger lurking behind every corner of dismantled concrete but then she'd felt it again. This time becoming fearful that the object of this troubling emotion was so close to her Suriel went to investigate. Shocked and abhorred by what she found she'd immediately flown into this current state of outraged fury, the Nekos it seemed apart from destroying their dead also wished to destroy any memory of such creatures having existed in the first place. The object of Suri's panicked, fearful and injured emotive was a tiny Neko kitten. Though she looked more like a fox than any kind of cat-like creature, she was and could only be classified as a different type of Neko one obviously not seen around these parts very often judging by the sudden interest of all those gathered around.
It seemed though that Nekos unrelated to the kitten wished to kill it, as the poor orphaned creatures mother was dead and they had no use for nor wished to carry such a burden with them on their travels. Outraged at the very idea of killing any child let alone an orphaned one Suriel had demanded an explanation and when one was not willingly given. She threatened to reincarnate them all as butterflies so that they could better understand the value of life, given the fact that of all god's creatures it seemed Butterflies had the shortest and most useless of all lifespans. They too seemed outraged by her suggestion and the situation was only growing worse by the minute, as Orion arrived to try and calm Suriel down. He had no luck however as the verbal assault continued... "Tell them! this is madness... no-one should kill a child. Especially not an orphan that has quite clearly lost so much already!" Suriel protested trying to get Orion to state his opinions on the subject at hand as the infant no older than a year or two began crying for its lost mother. Suriel couldn't bear to hear it cry for more than a second, picking up the child in bloodstained tatters she cradled it, humming a gently-soothing song that seemed to ease its suffering and calm it down too. The momentary lapse of conversation seemed to leave the Nekos with little choice.
"Then you should have her, generous angel of water and light!" One of the old gathered Nekos suggested, wishing just as much as the others to be rid of the burden of raising the child on the road as well as for the child's own safety. Suriel paused for a moment as though thinking the idea through before stating her concerns, Orion seemed more concerned at taking the child with them but had quickly learned to shut his mouth when matters of the heart occupied Suriels mind. "What of the child's family?... I couldn't" She added trying not to sound offended by the enticing idea of caring for another child, she'd had so much delight in raising her own child that now lay lost somewhere in a cold iron cell awaiting the light of day to save her. Orion seemed almost relieved as the Nekos began adding their own protests that the child had no family other than its now dead mother. The idea seemed to grow on Suriel and as much as she wished to say no, she could bear the thought of it being killed either.
"Fine... I shall take it." She stated flatly and in such a tone that no-one could object. Orion seemed far from pleased and let his angered emotions wash over hers intertwining themselves with her thoughts before they slowly dissolved away in the warm happiness she could feel emanating from the fox-like creature in her arms. Suddenly a Neko came running up to her, holding a small leather satchel shaped almost like a pouch from amidst the carnage of decaying Neko bodies set alight to a flaming backdrop of barbecued flesh. Taking the unfamiliar present with one hand as the Neko explained what it was for, it seemed the bag had been what the mother had been carrying the child around in before her untimely demise. Slinging the leather basket around her shoulders and over her slightly grazed left wing Suriel lightly set the small child inside. Wrapping it up in the many layers of pink blankets buried inside, she beamed down happily at the child as the Neko politely continued her final description.
"The child's name is Kitsune..."[/i]

Orion was less than impressed with Suriels decision to take on yet another responsibility. Wishing to voice his concerns more privately he waited until the young Neko instructing Suri on the proper care of Neko children moved on to join the others in cremating the last of their dead in what appeared to be a caterwauling cacophony of yowls, howls and ereatheral cries as they mourned the dead in a strangely eerie fashion that stabbed at even the coldest of heart strings. "You can't seriously be thinking that the child would be better off with us than them..." Orion admitted, slightly alarmed that the Nekos neither cared for nor wished to keep this innocent child alive and well given the unlikely event that its mother had died of natural causes and not at the hands of brutal slave traders. Suriel merely shook her head in a lecturing fashion, as though he himself were a child that understood very little of the ways of the world. She didn't answer him though, or speak her peace. Instead she turned from him either intending to fly somewhere safe or to walk back to where she had been. Orion would not have it though, he needed an explanation from her as to what she intended to do with the child neither one of them could look after it, he himself had trouble looking after their own child. Lost amidst slaves and cages of her own, surely two children was too much for the angel handle in her obviously fragile condition, then again maybe this was what she needed.
"Do you intend to get it imprisoned as well? we can't take it with us..." Orion snapped, stealing Suriels new found attention with the infant away for a moment as she glared quite intensely in his direction. "Then what would you have me do with it?... drown it in the river?! I think not."[/i] Suri huffed launching herself into the air where Orion couldn't dream of following her, leaving him bitterly outraged in how she had handled the situation and probably his own foolishness as well. Suri was always very sensitive when it came to children and he'd clearly over stepped the line. Her political demonstration with the Nekos, should have been enough to convince him of that. He sighed with a painful groan, he'd have to talk to her later about this she was obviously distressed by all the killing that had taken as it wasn't the first time she'd spoken like that towards him. Taking off as she had was merely one way she sought to distance herself from the possibility of saying something she'd regret later and he didn't bother forcing the issue any further as Suriel circled the clearing once and then landed back on the pile of wreckage he'd sat her on earlier. He hadn't meant to offend Suri, only point out the obvious. A war zone was no place for such a small child, let alone an innocently caring angel to get caught up in the middle of all this and live.
