The fire had gotten low, there wasn't much light. In the dimness there was a sudden shuffle of feet as Dirk awoke with a start. IN the darkness she would not see the sweat beading on his brow, his nerves feeling shot like they did every time he fell asleep. That dream that haunted him every other night, and this night was no exception. With a stretch of his arms, Dirk would let out a loud yawn before speaking, 'What's the matter Giselle?' he said slowly standing up and stretching his legs. Dirk listened for a moment for the distant crash of rain, yet all he heard was the soft plop echoing through the cave.

She blinked, only able to really sense the man. The fire left little light, and she had to squint, though that did almost nothing. "Nothing is wrong," she mumbled, sitting bac down and wrapping herself back up in the cloak. The air was cold on her previously warm skin. "I'm fine, Dirk, thanks," Giselle said, curling up on the box now. It was easier, if a bit cramped. "You, on the other hand.. I can feel the tension rolling off you." It was a true statement, though she now closed her eyes.
"Don't tell me if you don't want to, but if there's something I should know.. it would be nice if you did tell me, after all."

He poked the fire a few times with a stick revealing a few warm coals. In a few minutes he had the fire going again and light filled the room once more. Dirk kept his eyes off of Giselle, his stomach churned as she knew he was not himself. With a roll of his shoulders, Dirk tried to shrug the feeling off but found himself unable to. 'I'm tense cause my back was being jabbed by the corner of that dang crate.' A total bull shit lie, and Dirk knew she wouldn't believe him. Yet he could not bring himself to tell her, it was too soon, she was only beginning to trust him, and if she knew, Dirk knew not what she would do. Rubbing his eyes, Dirk sat down next to Giselle and sighed.
'I... would like to tell somebody, it would be nice.' He reached out and placed his rough hand gently on her shoulder. 'Someday I will tell you, when I am ready...'

The woman watched him at the sounds, opened her eyes, almost in a slightly-trancelike state. It was easy to watch the fire. Giselle liked it, liked how it consumed everything in its path, how all would be subject to it so long as it burned. The woman flinched when he touched her, pulling back from the man. "Fine," she muttered, upset a tad bit. If he wouldn't tell her, then fine. Dirk sucked at lying, and Giselle got up, before shuffling and laying down with her back to the man.
"Wake me up when the sun is about four fingers high in the sky." Which, roughly translated, would be an hour after sunrise. Sshe may have not slept, but Giselle simply lay there, looking at the wall and mulling through her own thoughts.

'Smooth Dirk, very smooth.' Trega murmured in his mind. 'I understand your fear, but it is getting in your way all the time recently. If you do not conquer your fears, they shall conquer you, and then what kind of a warrior would you be? Easily led around by the nose because you fear what people may think of you by your past actions, when they should judge you by your future and current ones.'
Dirk remained silent the next few hours, only moving to add more wood to the fire. He didn;t know Giselle had not gone back to sleep, he felt that somehow he had scared her, then again when was the last time someone was this nice to her. When it was an hour after dawn, Trega alerted Dirk, who in turn gently nudged Giselle. 'It's morning. The storm died off an hour ago and the clouds are beginning to break.'

She had fallen asleep after some time, though this was a rest that was uneasy. She did not cry out or squirm in her sleep - instead, Giselle would simply have silent nightmares, or fragments of misplaced dreams. She awoke with a groan, rolling over to look at Dirk. She blinked a few times, before nodding. "Mhm," she conceded with the man, blinking away the sleep some more.
It was a few moments before Giselle did arise, with the warm fur still wrapped around her. "What's first on our list of things to do?" the slave woman asked, as though she were trying to ignore what had transpired a few hours ago.

It was Dirk's turn to sense the troubled mind behind the wall of toughness, and he would not push it as Dirk stood up and his stomach growled. WIth a chuckle he would pat his belly before picking up the discarded claymore. 'First, I think we'll have Trega find some food, then its off to town to get that collar off you.' He said slowly lumbering to the door. He was glad to be putting this place behind him, Dirk was also glad it was an uneventful night, perhaps his luck had begun to swing his way.
((Do you have anything planed here, or should we start one in Town?))

(( go ahead and start one in town, if you'd like.. ))
Giselle nodded, a fleeting smile gracing her face, before disappearing as she rose. The woman wasn't too cold anymore, but she wouldn't want to take off the nice warm fur. It was like an insulator, and Giselle simple loved it. She detested the cold. "That works out well then." The human followed behind him, before walking next to the man, and then in front of Dirk.
"Coming?"
