« A ghostly looking mare stepped onto a steep bank and came from the water like she was a part of it; the water remained still, even as she lifted her last back leg from the still liquid. She arched her back slightly, her muscles bunching as she took the huge step from the soft, muddy ground of the bank to the hard, grassy floor of the forest. Once she was on level ground she shook herself, the water splattering against trees and making small, dimpling ripples in the lake bellow. A loud, wet sounding snort made her nostrils flare and her head shake; her forelock invaded the space in front of her eyes and she shook her head up and down, nickering softly as she attempted to get the invading hair to move away from her gaze.
« A defeated sigh escaped her as the forelock fell in front of her eyes once more. Deciding to ignore it, she lifted her pale eyes to survey the forest and any new inhabitants. She took in the scent of the forest through her flared nostrils and cocked her head as the scent of a living creature filled her nares. Something deep within her growled and her eyes closed for a moment, her body shuddering as she pressed the Beast within her down and behind the little locked door she had created for it. There was no real hunger to feed and the thought of feeding at the moment made her heart ache; the humanity that she now had made things like eating difficult.
« Shaking herself one last time, she wandered away from what she considered her lake. She took on her usual look of a lost-looking pony and wandered the forest until she reached its outskirt. The whinny that escaped her was sad sounding, even to her; she considered leaving the vicinity of the forest, which had been her home for over a century, but she decided against it and started walking back towards her lake. Her steps were soundless except for the eerie whinnies or nickers that she allowed to escape her. It wasn't uncommon for equine to speak without really talking to anyone. Though she could be either a human or horse, neither were a 'true form' to her, she had no true form to speak of.
« To tell the truth, she was lonely. A Kelpie could never really have a friend, having a friend would normally just be considered 'playing with your food'. She didn't want food though, she wanted a friend, someone to talk to, like...like that boy that had showed her love and her humanity. She bent her neck so her chin was pressed against his chest, a pained sound escaped her and her foreleg lifted to paw angrily at the ground. The boy was dead, the Beast had killed him. No, she had killed him, there was a difference. A big one.
