It is the year 2009, just nine years after the new century has begun. It is a time where music has various forms and a time when people who are "different" blend into society unlike any other time. However, things are not as they appear. Lestat de Lioncourt, his fledglings David and Louis, as well as Louis' fledgling Merrick have fled from New Orleans. The Talamasca are after the four vampires after having two of their members turned.
David no longer looks like himself after a run in with the Body Thief. He's now a younger man with bronzed skin who could walk amongst the mortals if he so wished. Louis is now stronger than ever after having drunk the blood of Lestat, who is near God-like himself. Merrick is now also stronger thanks to having Lestat's blood coursing through her veins.
