Name: Amaranda
Alias: Our Lady Of The Sundered Wings
Sex: Female
Sexuality: Bi
Race: White Angel
Powers/Abilities:
After Amaranda lost her wings (see history), many winged creatures swore their allegiance to her. Amaranda can communicate with birds, insects and bats. They serve as her agents and will come to her defense.
Some healing abilities. She can’t reattach a severed limb or close a fatal wound. But she can soothe more minor injuries like cuts, bruises and sprains.
Anything touched by her blood becomes sanctified. A weapon would gain additional powers against “evil” creatures. Also, by using her blood to draw a circle in the dirt, she can create a patch of holy ground.
Can make her body glow with a bright golden light, which illuminates everything within a twenty foot radius.
Age: Ancient
Height: Just under six feet
Weight: 160 lbs
Occupation: None
Weapon(s): None
Accessories: Amaranda often wears earrings in the shape of bird wings.
Appearance: To human eyes, Amaranda appears to be a tall, slender woman. Her facial features are soft and her expression is usually kind. Long, blonde hair falls down just past her shoulders -- when the light strikes it, the strands almost seems to shimmer, as if intermingled with threads of gold. Amaranda prefers to dress in white. However, she’s never quite gotten the knack of human fashion, so her clothes often look rather antique.
Nonhuman eyes, of course, can see all this and more. They can see the gashes in her back where her wings used to be. They can see the crimson blood which continually drips from those twin wounds. And they can see the feathery markings, like glowing golden tattoos, which cover much of her body.
Personality: Amaranda’s overwhelming personality trait is kindness. She is gentle to her friends and merciful to her enemies. A deep belief in the power of love drives her actions -- in her view, almost no one is beyond eventual redemption. They just need to be shown the true beauty of the world. They just need to be given a chance.
But do not mistake her kindness for weakness or naiveté. Amaranda’s faith makes her stronger than most people would guess. And she’s actually a shrewd judge of character. Just because she believes that you may eventually be redeemed doesn’t mean that she thinks you’re a saint now.
Although Amaranda rarely cries, an aura of sadness clings to her. Perhaps this is inevitable for a being that has loved so much, so deeply, only to see it fall into darkness.

History: When Amaranda was first assigned to end the slavery problem, she was as zealous as any of her colleagues. To protect humans, she believed that she must destroy those who threatened them --vampires, lycans, black angels and most especially demons.
And then Amaranda met Kale. Kale was a “taintling” (derogatory term for a human/demon hybrid) who kept a human slave. At least, Amaranda thought he did. However, when Amaranda rescued the young man, she discovered that he was actually Kale’s willing lover. Determined to understand how someone could love a demon, Amaranda observed the relationship. And, eventually, she realized that Kale actually possessed a number of redeeming traits. In the end, she lost her wings trying to defend him from a group of white angels.
Amaranda is now considered to be a rogue element. But, for some reason, she hasn’t fallen. Nor has she been recalled to heaven. Most of the other white angels simply leave her alone. And her outsider status means that she is trusted (or, at least, tolerated) by many creatures who would otherwise have nothing to do with a white angel.
Rather than trying to end the slave trade, Amaranda focuses on acquiring the most broken/corrupted slaves and trying to heal/redeem them. She also hopes that her interactions with the masters will eventually guide them toward the light. Of course, whenever you try to help someone up, you run the risk of being pulled down yourself.
