The sound of a rabbit screaming can be heard for miles. Its a very high pitched blood curdling scream. It's the kind of scream that could wake you up in the dead of night. A blade slit through the rabbits throat sending blood over the grave stone. Dark splotches decorating the green tinted grave stone. A rush of power was sent out after the kill. Greta could feel it creep up her skin like small insects. She felt a circle of power form around her. It was starting to close. Once a circle of power was closed no one that was in some way "magical" could enter. It was a sacred thing. Only a norm- non magic folk- could pass. But even that could be disastrous. Greta was on a job tonight. Three people were standing a few yards away from her. Two were the Bolkcom's the other was their lawyer. Brain Bolkcom, the deceased, had never gotten to filling out a will. So in the middle of a hot summer night a heart attack killed him. Now the family wanted to know where his stuff would go. They were paying Bert, her boss, a good sum of money. Raising the dead does cost a whole lot. First you have to pay for the animal that will be sacrificed, second there is Bert's price, and third there is the Animators share. Greta was calling the dead's name to rise him from his grave. She shoved that rush of power into the ground and it smashed through the coffin. Everything was quiet for a few minutes. A hand shot up out of the ground. It was reaching for thin air. It wanted out of its grave. It didn't want to be there anymore. Suddenly there was a body crawling out of the grave. And there he was. Brian Bolkcom aliveish and well. He looked as though not a day passed or if he was even dead. He was even still in the suit that they buried him in. He brushed off his clothing and looked at his surroundings. It was dark in the graveyard. Darker than it should of been. There was no moon tonight. The clouds were hiding her like a mistress. He looked around and finally he spotted his family. He started to walk towards them but then suddenly stopped as if he could not physically move anymore. He looked down. The blood that was on the ground was shinning bright. He could not cross the circle of power. He looked at Greta distressed and sad. "There its down. Talk to him. You might have to ask him the questions more than once. Zombies have a tendency to forget things from their human life." Greta said. Her voice was nice and even. A little high but it was calming. A real woman's voice, if there was one. The family walked up to the circle. They talked with the lawyer and among themselves. Not paying Greta any attention at all. As if she were a ghost they couldn't see. After a while they finished talking and they had gotten there deal settles. I motioned for Brian to come to me. He did without any questioning. That's the nice thing about being a necromancer. Zombies just do what you say. No questions asked. She opened the circle of power and the man began to crumble to dust and ashes, back into his grave. The rush of power coming back into Greta sent her back onto her knees. Breathing heavily. The family left without even a thank you "Damn pricks."She muttered. There was chicken blood under her nails. She could never avoid getting blood on her when she was on a job. Animator business or not. She sat there and tried to regain her breathing.

Ari walked through the graveyard, humming a light tune to herself. It was so cliche, the Vampire in the graveyard, that she enjoyed the irony in it. Her stilettoed boots clipped the pathway, an ominous sound in the dead of the cemetery. She had her sword out, swinging it back and forth around her in her right hand. That was the one thing she never left home without.
Even though she was relatively new to the city of Noctum, she had learned her way around the streets quickly, her preternatural sense of direction aiding in her conquest. She could hear the soft heartbeats of the birds in the trees and was trying to extend her hearing, both telepathic and regular out to the street on the other side of the graveyard, about a mile away. She caught a glimpse of a man walking down the street, the only thoughts in his mind were those of his feet moving tiredly in front of him. She leaned herself against a tree, flipping the katana up in the air and catching it by the hilt and then sheathing it. She tilted her head up in the air, breathing in deeply to catch the scents that surrounded her. She smelled something distinctively human and she tried to listen in on what they were thinking, hoping they were close enough for her to hear. Ari hadn't fed that evening and she wouldn't mind a quick bite from her fellow graveyard lurker. She pushed herself off the tree, her black leather jacket making a small squeak with the sudden motion and she blended herself into the shadows, becoming near invisible.
She stalked closer to the scent, now able to read the minds of the people she was preying on. There were four humans and one... there was no brain waves coming from the fifth body, but whatever it was smelt like death warmed over. She came even closer, so that now she could see them for herself and she watched as some kind of ritual was performed. Keeping her hand on the hilt of her sword, she moved closer still, unsure of what she had happened upon. She watched the dead-like creature look around aimlessly and watched as the dark haired girl who seemed in control of the ceremony make him disappear. She breathed in heavily, a completely unnecessary breathe as she stalked closer. She watched as the mundane looking humans walked off, three of them and was undecided as to whether or not she should go after them. They, from what she could tell, were completely unarmed and already spooked about being in a graveyard so late at night. Hey, it could be fun, she thought to herself, slipping into deeper shadow behind them.

Greta felt a presence push at her brain. It was hard to explain this kind of touch. She knew the feel of the other brain pretty well. She had killed enough of those to know the feel and the magic that surrounded them. The cross under her shirt began to glow a little with the holy fire. It felt warm against her chest. It made her flutter a little inside.
She stood up. She was wearing a black blouse. Blood didn't really show up on it and she didn't want to scare anyone while she went home. She was wearing some black leather pants that were almost skin tight. They were perfect for running in. They were tight but were very flexible. Black Nikes completed the outfit. She looked for her clients and there car was gone. Good they were safe for tonight.
One good thing about being a necromancer is that you had some immunity to the blood suckers. Greta could look into there eyes and not even feel a tug. But then again it depended on how old this vamp was. This was was almost four hundred years old. That was another perk. Greta was born with these natural abilities. No spell or ritual to do them.
"Come out and play."She whispered

Ari tracked the humans until the reached their car. Annoyed, she ran back through the graveyard, just in time to hear he dark haired girl whisper, "Come out an play," presumably to Ari, herself because Ari knew that there was no one else left in this cemetery but the dead. Well, excluding herself, of course.
She approached the girl from behind, still enshrouded with shadow and silently unsheathed her katana. She flipped it around a couple of times, and walked around to the face the girl, letting the shadows flow away from her body, revealing herself completely.
"You called?" Ari asked with a sarcastic smile upon her flawless face. She rested the blade of her katana against her thigh and waited for the girl to make a move. Ari could read her mind, but she could tell that the girl was making an effort to keep her out. A strong effort. Ari was impressed, to say the least. She let out a small chuckle and eyed the girl, waiting for her to attack. Humans were so predictable, so easily dispatched.

Greta sighed. "Stupid vamps. Always gotta go and fuck with someone."She scowled. Truth was Greta could not kill this monster, legally. She would have had to get a court order. Or it would be considered illegal since vampires were now counted as living citizens. Damn Addison vs Clark case. Damn you to hell.
Greta wasn't stupid. She knew the vamp was expecting her to move first. Greta had a lot of weapons on her. She had the element of surprise. But the monster had the upper hand. She was faster, stronger, and maybe even smarter given her age.
"So whats an old lady like you doing out here. Picking up little kids and disposing of the body's?"She taunted

Ari laughed.
"So whats an old lady like you doing out here. Picking up little kids and disposing of the body's?"
"I'm hardly an old lady, insolent human," she sneered with a slight hiss behind her words. Ari twirled her sword in her hand, wondering for a moment if the human was going to attack her after all. If she hadn't done it already, she probably wasn't going to. Good, Ari thought, the more time to play with the silly little human.
Beneath her black leather jacket, Ari was packing some serious heat. Twin 9mm pistols were strapped to her back, along with three 12" hunting knives and her prized Ankh dagger strapped to the inside of her black heeled boot.
"Aren't you going to attack me?" Ari asked with a grin on her devilishly beautiful face.

Greta didn't like the smile on the vamps face. It actually gave a little life to it. The monsters were walking corpses. They weren't suppose to have any life in them. Though it was possible for them to look human after they fed. This on obviously hadn't fed tonight. Her skin was paler than Greta's. And Greta's skin was pretty pale. Her skin was almost the color of the moon as if it bore her. "See I would like to do the killing dance but thanks to the judicial system I can't. Unless that is you gave me reason too."She teased, "And what are you talking about not being an old lady. Your in your late 300's. Much older than I am." She laughed a little at the monster.
There were two wrists sheaths under the blouse. Each containing a medium length high silver content knife. A blade almost as long as the vamps sword. Again with the highest silver content possible. She had her Browning Hi-Power 9mm in her holster. It was just a quick grab and it was there. They had Saftey Glazer Rounds in them. Capable of taking off a body part in one shot. Silver content even put into these. Hey when your going up against the monsters you needed every up.

Ari, sure that she could easily dispatch the young woman who was acting so intolerably insolent, took a step forward.
"I'm sure your blood will suit me just fine, mortal, I've yet to feed tonight and am rather thirsty."
Ari leaped in the mortal's direction, her beautiful and pearly fangs extended to their full length. She held her katana out in front of her, in an attacking manner and charged the girl.
"Now, you will die, mortal,"Ari hissed as she swung her sword at the girl.

Greta felt the rush of wind before vamp started to charge for her. She started to pull her Browning Hi-Power 9mm with the saftey glazer rounds. She ducked right before the vamps sword cut her entire head off. The sword managed to to cut a few hairs off of her bangs. Hey it wasn't much of a loss. Your head or your bangs. Which one? It was as if time started to slow down and she had all the time in the world to do what she wanted. As the vamp moved past her she started to move her gun almost point blank at the monsters chest. She exhaled and pulled the trigger of the Browning.

Ari glanced back at the human after she charged and saw her pointing a gun in her direction. She rolled, avoiding the girl's aim and pulled her own pistol from her back. Within seconds, she had her gun pointed at the girl's head, crouched in a predatory stance. "You can't hurt me, you fool," Ari snarled, her fangs gleaming in the dark. As old as Ari was, she'd built up a strong immunity to silver. She could smell it on the human; she reeked of this metal. Ari grinned, standing with her gun still poised on the girl's head, her katana in her left hand.
"Silver doesn't work on me," she said, cocking her pistol. It was a straight shot through the girl's brains, and she was prepared to take it if the girl moved a muscle.
"Put your gun down and I won't hurt you," she said, moving to sheath her katana at her hip.

She didn't even notice it happened. All of a sudden she was ducking to shoot at the monster then the next moment she becomes trapped between the gun. Greta knew she couldn't win. She dropped the gun and rolled it over. She had to think of something fast or she was going to become lunch meat. Vamps didn't usually have this much of an upper hand on her. Hey everyone's a challenge

Ari watched with careful eyes as the girl dropped her gun and kicked it aside, smiling at how easy it was to unarm a human. While the immediate threat was out of the girl's reach, Ari knew that the girl was still carrying weapons on her, Ari could smell them. She moved closer, dipping down faster than the girl's eye could even follow and picked up her rival's gun. She twirled it in her hand, a sly grin on her face.
"Are you afraid I'm going to make you dinner?" she asked, cradling the stolen weapon in her hand.

She sighed. It was always games with these damn fools. They never just cut right to the business. "No shit Sherlock."She said. Greta still had that little advantage that her enemy did not have. She eyeballed her surroundings to see where she was. She smirked a little. They were standing on the tombstone with the chicken blood on it. It was still fresh for it was still oozing down the thing. She closed her eyes and exhaled. Feeling a rush of power build up inside her. "Rise" she mouthed. The human arms sprang up and grabbed on to the vamps legs. Trying to pull her down into the grave. Yes zombies were humans. But they were stronger. Every human was way stronger than they looked. There has been reports of grandmothers over the age of seventy lifting up semi trucks to save there grandchildren. Humans never tapped into this power because if we did were risking a lot of damage to our bodys. Zombies used this power all the time. They were already dead and didn't have anything to worry about.

Ari hissed as the dead human grabbed a hold of her boots. She could feel the power of death that was exuding from the young mortal as she rose the now animated corpse. "Necromancer," Ari growled, a feral snarl ripping through her throat. With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the mortal girl's gun behind her, throwing it so far it apparently hit a car and made the alarm go off. She holstered her own gun and unsheathed her katana, the zombie still latched onto her legs. With a quick a deft maneuver, Ari swiped at the corpse's arms, cutting them off, and, in turn, leaving gashes upon her own legs. She hissed with a slight pain, though she could already feel her regenerative power kicking in. The wounds would be healed completely in a quick minute. Ari sidestepped away from the place where the corpse was still rising, and in a flash she was behind the mortal, her blade poised at the girl's throat.
"Make it disintegrate," Ari commanded, pressing the blade closer still to the pale flesh of her carotid artery, the vein that would make her bleed to death of she did not obey. Ari could smell the blood rushing through the girl's veins, pumping life into her scared, thumping heart. Ari inhaled deeply, the blood almost singing to her. She pushed aside her bloodlust, however, until the zombie was dealt with.

Hey it was worth a shot. She tried to make the zombie tug her down with it but it obviously didn't work. She concentrated on that rush of power that the zombie was giving off. She started to call it back. Her eyes snapped open. She had called the rush of power but it wouldn't come to her. Instead it was spreading alone the grave yard picking through the graves. The sound of there bodies piercing the surface of the earth was all around. The vampire was thrown off of her by the rush of power as Greta was thrown to the ground screaming. The fell of death was all around her. It started creeping towards the vampire. Calling to her. Meanwhile zombies from the other graves where climbing out of there coffins and walking towards there master.
