It was the night of the new-moon, though cloudy as it was no one could tell. The dark woods of the Obsidian Forest were cloaked entirely in shadow. Yet all was not quiet this night, something had been stirred deep in the woods, something large, something angry, something that made even Dirk the Warrior flee in terror.
Blood pounded in his ears, his heart thumping rapidly, almost bursting from his chest with each pump. Dirk had never ran so fast in his life, he had never been so scared either, whatever that was chasing him was way bigger than he was, and in this darkness Dirk was at a sever disadvantage. Twigs crunched under his heavy steps, bushes exploded into bare branches, Dirk couldn't stop himself from running. Even when he ran full speed into a fully grown oak tree with a heavy thud, the impact merely caused him to run in another direction. He desperately needed Trega's help, but when he contacted her she was miles away, it would take her at least three hours to get here even with the winds at her back, which they weren't.
There was a loud roar behind Dirk and he snapped his head around to check behind him, though all he could see was darkness. Tripping on a root, the warrior would tumble down a large slope into a small clearing where the trees had parted, letting in what little light there was. Mentally contact his partner again he would stand there with a hand on his claymore. 'Trega! Can you give me any advice?'
'Yes, use Ayaken... stone-brain
'Oh right' He would speak aloud. 'Knilb; Nekaya!'
His claymore flashed a bright light and vanished. In its place was a dazzling six-foot golden Katana. On the flat of the blade were the words "Nekaya", its handle was bound with a silver string. The Katana shone with a faint light that cut the darkness from around Dirk. His hand strayed to the ivory horn at his belt, even though Trega was not near Dirk was half-tempted to sound a call for help. However he was sure it would attract more creatures of the night to him. As the monster chasing him roared again, Dirk made up his mind. Pressing the horn to his lips, he would blow a clear, loud call for help. Three times he sounded the call, and three times he would listen to it fade away into the darkness. 'Baaaah, looks like its all for myself.'
There came a loud crashing sound from atop the hill. the ground shook violently as the creature rolled down the hill, busting branches and younge trees alike in its destructive path. Reaching the clearing it would leap into the air, unraveling itself from a ball-like shape. Landing with a crash it resembled something between a dinosaur and an armadillo. With thick armor like scales running down its entire back from its round spiked head to a fat tail. standing over 10 feet tall the creature flared down at Dirk with its small beady eyes, angry at the human for disturbing its slumber.
The Warrior would simply grin at the monster, his previous fear vanished without a trace. 'Bring it on ugly!'
